Sea kayaking is a perfect water-based activity suited to school groups, outdoor education groups and Duke of Edinburgh Award Groups. Whether it is a half day trip, full day trip or 7 day expedition, we can tailor a sea kayaking activity to suit the needs of your group.
On our kayaking trips, students will have the chance to observe giant sea turtles, sting rays, dolphins and sea eagles and have the opportunity to snorkel on fringing coral reefs. The emphasis is on enjoying the natural environment whilst keeping active and learning through group dynamics. Lessons include management of food/water, group combinations, weather and tidal conditions, group strengths and weaknesses and creating good group morale.
Students will be involved in setting up camp at some of the most beautiful and remote campgrounds, all within close proximity of the beach.
A fast mini-barge runs a camper drop off service from our depot at Shute Harbour and can be used in transportation of students, kayaks and equipment if required. A support vessel is also available for hire.
Salty Dog Sea Kayaking has a public liability insurance of $20 million.
We also have a safety management plan – details are available on request. Safety equipment carried includes first aid kit, flares, VHF radio, mobile phone, torch, tow line, split paddle, vinegar and pump.
Our fully qualified and experienced guides also carry laminated maps of the area and a Satellite Phone in those areas where there is no mobile phone coverage. Medical forms need to be filled out and forwarded to us ahead of time and indemnities need to be signed by a parent or guardian of the participating student. Trips can be self-catered or catered by us if required.
To discuss the options for your group please feel free to contact us, either by email or phone.
